LIFE’S PUZZLE

puzzle

My life lies scattered about me

Puzzle pieces all about

No jigsaw did this, it happened

When my life was in route.

Each day I awake with pain,

Do you, too?

It may not be a comfort

But there are millions who do.

I have never figured out the why

The wherefore or the who;

But I do know,

No one has a clue.

It makes you wonder

About the direction of life,

The meaning of pain,

And the purpose of strife.

All you formerly knew as routine

Is now known as frustration land

Life is more of a challenge

Than you ever planned.

I have to wonder if real life

Is ever truly planned,

Or is it just a random event which occurs

Without any high command?

I do know it often feels like war

But I cannot decide,

If I’m winning or losing

Or just along for the ride.

If that is the case

Shouldn’t I be having more fun?

And what is the purpose of this war

And how do you know if you won?

I’m afraid I know

It’s a war to the death.

Nobody wins and it doesn’t help

To hold one’s breath.

Where have all the answers gone?

Is there any meaning to strife?

Is this all just one big game show

Called “Do you bet your life?”

After all these years

I don’t have a clue

You’d think by now

I’d at least have a few.

I’d like to startle and amaze

I’d like to spew forth knowledge

But alas I find I can’t

while tettering on a ledge.

Most days I can only spew a bit

And that is usually while I gaze

As I behold this body

Now just a puzzling maze.

I’ve decided this earthly form

Is just the vehicle for life’s trip

And it seeks its own destination

While I get a fat lip.

Okay, I get it

Life makes no sense at all

But I persistently like to think

One day I’ll get a call.

“Hello Mrs Wood,

This is the world’s greatest Physician

And you are suffering because all

Of this is some great plan.

“You’re supposed to gain knowledge

And share all you find

Examine your life

While keeping your mind.

“So far you’re doing okay

But there are days I do worry

Remember you have just so many days

Thus you’d better not tarry.

“You’re spending too much time

On complaints you cannot change

Too much time on poor little you;

Remember life’s a huge boomerang.

“Stop looking for reasons

Shut your mouth when you must

Just gain knowledge and insight

And stop making this fuss.”

My puzzle didn’t come in a box

With a picture of what it should be.

It came along in pieces,

No directions for me to see.

It’s like belonging to a club

The Pain of the Month it’s to be,

And the packages arrive promptly

Like a wild spending spree.

Then one day.

The phone did ring

And a deep voice said, “Hi,

Yes, I’m the real Thing.

“I’m called many names,

Great Physician and often, Lord

And you’re wasting much time

Which you can ill afford.

“Enough is enough

I’ve heard all you say

But don’t you get tired

Of living that way?

“Answers are there for you to find

My promises are true.

I’ve promised you to be there

Always, specifically for you.

“I can multi-task like you cannot

Watch over you and keep you safe

But you have to have faith, and trust;

You’re not some orphaned waif.

“I gave these doctors knowledge

I will lead you to their skill,

You just be a good girl

Rest your doubts and trust my will.

“And don’t worry about that jigsaw

It’s one of mine, like you;

Just be sure to remember

I invented glue.”

  1. WOW SUE…..THAT WAS BLOOMING AMAZING, AND HAS SET ME THINKING DEEPLY, I THINK IT WILL AFFECT US ALL IN MUCH THE SAME WAY TOO, A BIT OF A DEEP RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR MAKER…..WOULD I BE RIGHT IN THOSE THOUGHTS? I LOVED IT ANYWAY, AND THANK YOU FOR WRITING IT FOR US.
A QUICK UPDATE…HAD THE NECK X-RAY, GOT THE RESULTS AND TOOK THEM TO THE OSTEO, WHO IS SEEING ME ON WEDNESDAY. I HAD TO SEEK MY DOCTOR’S HELP YET AGAIN WITH THE BURNED MOUTH, THE BLISTER BURST AND I NEARLY HIT THE ROOF, DOC GIVEN ME A BETTER PRODUCT, AS WHAT THE PHARMACIST GAVE ME DID MORE HARM THAN GOOD…..JUST HOPING IT KICKS IN SOON, AS ITS NOW BEEN EIGHT DAYS, AND I AM GETTING SICK OF BABY FOOD.
I HOPE EVERYONE IS OK, AND WILL WATCH THE POSTS SO I CAN KEEP IN TOUCH WITH EVERYONE…….HAVE A GOOD MONDAY…LOVE …JENNIE XX

    • Oh Jen, it makes me cringe in sympathy just thinking of the roof of your mouth being so raw. I also hope the doctor’s med is more helpful. I think any of the caine liquids would help. Wish I lived across the street from you and could bring you a squirt bottle of lidocaine viscous to numb it. I know the healing is a slow process with the mouth but that’s small comfort. Does plain crushed ice held in the mouth help?
Hope the kids got home safely. Pleased you got the X-rays of your neck and will look forward to your getting some opinions that will help.
It’s Labor Day here and Jim is home. George still woke us up at 5 AM. Forget to tell him it was a holiday. I fed him some treats and it seemed to suffice and he went back to sleep little minx. I need to warm up as it is fall cold around here these mornings and get myself going to get a few groceries. Had a good birthday celebration with youngest grandson Sat. School starts for them next week so babysitting after school for this Nana on Mon. and Friday afternoons. Back to the routine after all the chaos of the last few months feels good but challenging. Love you, now please take care. Sue

      • HI SUE….STILL HANGING ON IN THERE, BUT I DON’T THINK MY MOUTH IS HEALING, I HAVE A DENTAL MIRROR AND CAN STILL SEE INFLAMATION. THE DAKTARIN WON’T LAST MUCH LONGER EITHER, I HAD SUCH HIGH HOPES FOR THAT TOO.
LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER TRIP TO THE DOC’S AT THE END OF THE WEEK, SO SICK OF IT ALL NOW, CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW IT LOOKS WHEN I HAVE TO COOK FOR GUESTS ON THURSDAY, AND I HAVE TO SIT THERE LIKE A DORK EATING YOGURT? I AM WONDERING IF ITS NOT ALL LINKED TO THE EAR/JAW PAIN…..SURELY NOT, ANYONE CAN BURN THEIR MOUTH, LIKE PIZZA BURN I THINK ITS CALLED…..BUT WHY DO OTHER FOLKS GET OVER IT IN ONLY A FEW DAYS?
I FORGOT ABOUT LABOR DAY, SORRY I SHOULD HAVE WISHED EVERYONE A HAPPY DAY, I HOPE IT WAS, FANCY GEORGE FORGETTING TOO!!!! SO GLAD YOU ENJOYED YOUR GS’S BIRTHDAY, BET HE LOVED SPENDING IT WITH HIS LOVELY NANA……..WILL TALK AGAIN LATER, THINKING OF YOU, LOVE JENNIE X

  2. My Dearest Sue, Your poem is certainly a beautiful piece of work that causes one to stop and reflect on the big picture. If I could, I would take all your pain and suffering and make it mine, if but just for one day. Wouldn’t it be geat if we could do this for each other? I have my own pains, trials and tribulations, but when I see what you and the other ladies have dealt with and stiff suffer with, I know my pains are trivial. Thank you for writing and sharing with all of us. You are a great blessing in our lives and I continue to ask God to wrap his healing arms around you each night when I say my prayers.

    • Karen, What a sweet thing for you to think and say. If only…huh? No pain is trivial if it is yours. I often feel God’s healing, large fatherly arms around me in rough times. I pray each of us do. Love you, Sue

    • Karen, I think most or all of us would do so for one another. I know I would. 🙂 And it is so sweet of you to voice it. Sue is right. No one’s pain is trivial. And any of us would gladly take yours for a day for you to enjoy some relief. 😉 Blessings.

    • Kathy, Thanks for the complement. I’m sure some would not agree with you. Poetry can only speak to each individual heart as it is so subjective, don’t you think? Hope you’re doing okay. Fondly, Sue

  3. Sue
    Oh so good again
    It spoke to me
And it seems to reaffirm to take each day with what comes up.if you’ve feeling good enjoy it and not think about how it’s gonna be tomorrow ,till that comes
I think that’s why we got our shed .for now and not think about how it will fit in in the future too much
    Chris

    • Chris dear, that’s one thing about poetry. It speaks to every reader in its own way. I think having the shed has been so wonderful for your whole family and just when you needed a break. Life can be wonderful in the midst of chaos. Maybe that helps us enjoy it all the more. Much love, Sue

  4. Hi Sue, once again you have blessed us! Such a wonderful poem! It spoke to me, as always, you have such a way of speaking to all of us differently. You might not know this because I can’t remember what all I have told about my breast cancer journey. The one thing that kept me going was my belief in God and my motto ” one day at a time”. That is the same thing that gets me through now and will continue to get me through. I thank God for you. You encourage us and keep us lifted up.
I have two prayer requests. One is for my nephew Christian. He wrecked on his dirt bike last Friday. He has a severe concussion with some swelling on his right side. He also has a shattered big toe, they had to remove nail. He also has a broken ankle that is requiring surgery. The ortho doctor wants to wait a little while until the concussion gets better and swelling goes down before he does surgery. He is 15 years old. 2nd request. My Van broke down 4weeks ago and my husband thought he had it fixed and off I go running errands. I once again was stranded and had to have a tow truck. My husband tried to get a new part from the auto store and found out it would have to come from a dealership. Lots of money for the part. So yesterday at church he talked to someone who works at a dealership and he is going to get the part. Another fellow from Church came out and looked at the van and said he would put it on. Now, I have a lot of things coming up for the next few weekends and really need my van by Friday. I have been using my husband’s truck to go to my appointments but it is so hard for me to get in and out of it and put my walker in it. My Van has a lift and my scooter is in my van. I just need prayers that it will be fixed by Friday. My husband uses his truck on the weekends. And pray for my nephew to heal quickly. Thank all of you for your prayers! Donna

    • Donna, I believe you mentioned your nephew on FB and I am so sorry to hear about this, especially in one so young. Sounds like a smart doctor to take care of the brain first. Pray he gets along well but you already know it will take time. He will grow up a lot in the process but at his age that will probably be good. Prayers for certain.
I also hope and pray you get your vehicle that works for you back by Friday. I can understand all your reasons and they make perfect sense. You sound like you are surrounded by helpful, caring folks at your church. That’s so good. Let us leave it to be the Lord’s will be done, okay? He knows. Love you, Sue

      • HI DONNA, I ALSO WILL BE PRAYING FOR YOUR NEPHEW AND FOR YOU. MY SON ALSO HAD A 4 WHEELER ACCIDENT AT THE AGE OF 18 SO I UNDERSTAND. ” ONE DAY AT A TIME” IS A GOOD MOTO AND SOME DAYS WHILE MY SON WAS IN THE HOSPITAL I USE TO SAY “ONE MOMENT AT A TIME” CAUSE THAT WAS ABOUT ALL I COULD GET THROUGH. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
        XXX

  5. THANK YOU SUE FOR THAT WONDERFUL POEM. IT DID MAKE ME STOP AND THINK I NEED TO TALK TO GOD MORE OFTEN WITH ALL THE PROBLEMS FLYING AROUND ME LATELY. I NEED TO CALM DOWN AND TAKE TIME FOR ME. SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN VERY HARD TO DO THESE PAST FEW MONTHS WITH AUNTY AND OF COURSE WITH MYSELF, WELL GEE, WITH LIFE IN GENERAL. THAT WOULD BE EASIER INSTEAD OF GOING ON AND ON. THIS POEM DOES THAT FOR ME. IT IS THE BIGGER PICTURE AND I SOMETIMES FORGET.
WELL BETTER SIGN OFF FOR NOW AS I HAD ANOTHER STRENUOUS DAY WITH AUNTY AND THEN AT HOME.
LOVE YOU BIG! THANKS AGAIN FOR THE PERSPECTIVE ON LIFE.
    GOD BLESS.
    XXX

    • Dearest Suzanne, I know life is hard right now. I hope you are taking care of yourself in all the extra pressure from your aunty’s problems but also I hope you aren’t taking any crap. Being old, possibly demented and in pain; none of these are an excuse for being abusive and rude. Just remember it’s all those things speaking and not the kind side of her. Take time for you or you won’t have anything left to give to those nearest and dearest to you as well as yourself. Love you much, Sue

      • THANK YOU SUE. I DO NEED TO TAKE CARE OF ME, THAT I DO KNOW, AS MY BODY IS TELLING ME THAT. OF COURSE LIFE GOES ON AND TODAY I NEED TO MAKE MANY CALLS FOR AUNTY. THINGS ARE GETTING WORSE. SHE NOW BELIEVES THE PHARMACIST IS GIVING HER PILLS AND NOT THE DOC. TRIED TO EXPLAIN THAT CAN NOT HAPPEN BUT SHE DOES NOT BELIEVE ME. SHE IS HAVING TROUBLE PROCESSING THAT SHE IS SICK AND HER FOOT NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF. IT IS STILL VERY SWOLLEN AND RED AND SHE CAN NOT PUT A SHOE OR SLIPPER ON AT ALL. I’M WONDERING WHAT ELSE IT COULD BE, IF NOT GOUT? THE SWELLING IS NOW STARTING TO GO UP PASS HER ANKLE. VERY DISTURBING! NO NOT TAKING ANY CRAP ANYMORE. THAT IS WHY WE HAD A ROUGH TIME YESTERDAY. THANKS TO GOD, MY DD WAS WITH ME. SHE GAVE ME THE STRENGTH I NEEDED TO DEAL WITH AUNTY. IT REALLY IS SO SAD TO SEE HER LIKE THAT. SHE ALSO THINKS I TOOK HER PILL BOX WHICH OF COURSE IS TOTALLY RIDICULOUS. ALL HER PILLS ARE THERE, I CHECKED THEM ALL BUT SHE REFUSES TO TAKE CERTAIN ONES. WILL BE CALLING THE SOCIAL WORKER TODAY TO LET HER KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON WITH AUNTY THEN HAVE TO CALL MEALS ON WHEELS AS SHE HAS DECIDED SHE WILL CONTINUE GETTING THEM AS SHE CAN NOT GO ANYWHERE CAUSE OF HER FOOT. THEN WILL CALL TO SEE WHERE SHE IS LANDED ON THE LIST FOR A CLEANING PERSON TO COME TO HER HOUSE. WHEN DD AND I GO TO HER HOUSE IT’S TO CLEAN CUPBOARDS, CLOSETS…ETC NOT REGULAR EVERYDAY CLEANING. I DO FEEL LIKE I WILL HAVE TO GO AS SOON AS I GET SOMEONE TO DRIVE ME, BECAUSE HER HOUSE IS GETTING DIRTY. (BATHROOM) WE DID CLEAN THE KITCHEN FOR HER. FINALLY AT THE END OF OUR VISIT SHE WAS ALMOST CRYING AND DID ADMIT SHE WAS FINDING HARD TO BE SICK CAUSE SHE HAS NEVER BEEN SICK BEFORE IN HER LIFE.

WELL SUE THANKS FOR THE EAR, ONCE AGAIN NEEDED TO GET THAT OUT OF MY SYSTEM.
I DO HOPE YOU ARE FEELING A LITTLE BETTER EVERYDAY. THE DENTAL WORK WILL SOON COME TO AN END FOR YOU. THAT WILL CERTAINLY BE A DAY OF CELEBRATION. SENDING PRAYERS YOUR WAY MY DEAR FRIEND.

JENNIE POO I DO HOPE YOUR MOUTH WILL GET BETTER SOON, I’M PRAYING THAT IT ALL WORKS OUT BEFORE YOU RUN OUT OF THE MEDS. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW PAINFUL IT MUST BE FOR YOU SWEET PEA.

CHRIS SWEETHEART, I DO BELIEVE ” LE SHED” HAS BEEN A BLESSING IN YOUR LIFE. CONTINUE TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF EACH OTHER. LOVE YOU.

LYN AND ANNIE, HOPE ALL IS WELL WITH YOU.

TONIE SWEET PEA, WHERE ARE YOU AND HOW ARE YOU DOING. WE ARE ALL WORRIED ABOUT YOU. SENDING PRAYERS YOUR WAY DEAR GIRL. LOVE YOU BIG.

TO ALL ON THE BLOG, HOPE EVERYONE HAS A DAY WITH LOW PAIN. LOVE TO ALL.

        GOD BLESS

  6. Don’t pay the ransom !! I am fine Jennie, so sorry I have worried you. I have been so busy with this and that, and by the time I get to bedtime, I am sacked out !! We had things going on at the church on Sunday and was pooped out from that. Monday I was out in the yard working all day getting things set to right and then my son came up and spent the night. Yesterday I had to be up at 5 and go the the Dr in Roanoke, and then my son AND his wife came and stayed with me. Took me out to eat, so another exhausting day. SO …..!
And I woke up late, so must rush and get to work. I will come back and read the blog later, I love you all.
    Tonie

    • Dear Tonie, Happy you were just busy. I’ve gotten so I expect your morning update and when it didn’t show up was a little worried. Sounds like you are ok just doing too much, nothing new about that. Good thoughts and prayers. Love, Janet

      • JAnet:
Benn runnin around like a chicken with it’s head cut off, and you know how they do ! 🙂 I hope all is going well with you and your planned move. I know you are exhausted with packing and going thru downsizing ! Prayers for you
        Love
        Tonie

    • OH TONIE….YOU ARE A KNOCK-OUT, THANKS FOR COMING ON, HATE IT WHEN YOU DON’T AND I KNOW YOU ARE ALWAYS BUSY…….WILL CATCH UP SOON, GOT TO GO TO THE CLINIC NOW, SEE WHAT THE OSTEOPATH MAKES OF MY X-RAYS, MIGHT WANT TO PUT ME OUT TO GRASS….LOVE YA JENNIE POO XX

  7. WELL BEEN TO OSTEOPATH, HE IS VERY GOOD AND I THINK WE ARE GOING TO GET ALONG JUST FINE…..HE ASKED ME IF I COULD CHOSE JUST ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE HOW I FELT, WHAT WOULD IT BE? I SAID “BROKEN” HE ANSWER WAS, “I WILL FIX YOU, I THINK I CAN HELP”, I FELT LIKE CRYING, ITS BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE ANYONE IN THAT FIELD SAID THAT….I MUST TRUST HIM TO FOLLOW THROUGH.
MOUTH STILL HURTING A LOT, GOT TO HOPE THAT CAN BE FIXED TOO.
EXHAUSTED NOW, AS WAS TO BE EXPECTED, BUT SO PLEASED TONIE HAS POSTED, HOPE EVERYONE ELSE IS DOING GOOD, LOVE TO YOU ALL…………….JENNIE X

    • Jennie, can I send SB over to you and that Osteo of yours? His back is hurting something fierce right now and nothing is helping. His lower back is stilt fine from the ablation but the upper… We need some answers and a plan! So glad you are finally getting some help! Now to get you some relief and healing in that mouth of yours! How awful for you.

      • Lyn, I am sorry to hear SB is having trouble in the upper back. I know the timing stinks with school et al. Can you get him in to see the doctor who did his ablation to get an opinion? How are you doing besides being worried about him? Thinking of both of you. Love, Sue

      • HI LYN…YES BRING HIM ON OVER, POOR KID, HE HAS A TIME OF IT DOESN’T HE? I DO HOPE YOU CAN FIND SOMEONE TO HELP HIM, THERE WILL BE SOMEONE OUT THERE, AND YOU WILL FIND THEM IN TIME….YES I NEED HELP FOR MY MOUTH NOW, I DON’T THINK I CAN TOLERATE IT FOR MUCH LONGER……TAKE CARE PET…LOVE JENNIE X

      • I couldn’t reply to Sue or Jennie, so I’m replying to myself – haha! I think SB is finally ready to try a specialist at Penn or John’s Hopkins. Both are relatively close to us – 2 1/2 hours or so. Not handy with work and school, however. He is going to go back to my Rheumy who had offered to refer him before when he saw him. The doc that did his ablation also offered, I think, but said aside from meds, he’s done all he can do for him. My Rheumy is closer to work and school, so maybe that had something to do with it also. The ball is in his court, but I did press upon him that he should do something now while he is still insured by our health insurance.

    • Jennie, I am so relieved to hear you like the new doc. What a kind and insightful response he gave you. Couldn’t we all use some fixing. Your mouth and that burn are going to take time because burns just do. Such a miserable experience for you to have to go through.I hope you’re able to eat enough to stay strong.
So did the new doc have some ideas you feel like sharing with the rest of us or it to be over a period of time? Good to hear you sound more encouraged. It’s about time for you to catch a break, right? Much love, Sue

      • HI SUE…….YES ITS GOOD WHEN YOU LIKE THOSE THAT TREAT YOU, AS YOU DID. HE IS A NICE YOUNG MAN I THOUGHT HE WAS ABOUT 25/28ISH AND I FELT DUBIOUS AS TO HIS EXPERIENCE….WRONG…HE IS 40 AND TRAINED IN ORLEANS AND BORDEUX. HE PUT A HOT PAD ON MY NECK FIRST AND ENCOURAGED ME TO RELAX AND LEFT ME FOR HALF AN HOUR, THEN CAME BACK AND DID MANIPULATION, TESTING MY PAIN LEVELS WHEN HE TURNED MY HEAD, THIS WAY AND THAT.I AM EATING OK…JUST YOGURT, MILK, NOTHING HARD OR THAT NEEDS MUCH CHEWING, EGGS, FISH, STEWED APPLES WITH CREAM. THAT KIND OF THING. I DON’T KNOW HOW LONG THE TREATMENT WILL GO ON FOR AT THIS STAGE SUE, I GO NEXT TUESDAY, SO MAYBE HE WILL TELL ME THEN, BUT MY CERVICAL SPINE IS CROOKED AND NOT IN A GOOD WAY, SO THERE IS MUCH TO BE DONE.
RIGHT I AM OFF NOW, I NEED TO REST AND GATHER MY STRENGTH, GOT VISITORS TOMORROW, HEAVEN HELP ME…..LOVE YOU MY FRIEND……JENNIE XX

  8. Suzanne, I am so worried about your aunt and her foot. It really does need to be attended to. And, of course, I’m very worried about you as well. Do take care of yourself along the way!

  9. Sue, thank you again. I admit I was very concerned for you until I finished the poem. Still uneasy in a way. I know God is with you. Just so you know, too. 😉
That rascal, George! Good thing he’s so cute, huh? Not much about Jake. How is he doing? I’m sure DH is over worked as usual. 😛 We are back into school mode here (started last week.) DH and SB in class, DD working and planning a short vaca to the beach with friends. I’m trying to juggle all the new schedules, manage the pets (cats are not all agreeing on what food they like right now – ugh!) and still take care of myself. Speaking of which, I’d better get moving. I have to change and run a few errands. Hugs!

    • Lyn, Sorry I worried you. I did promise myself and all of you I would always be as honest as I possibly could be and I guess my hard times kind of leaked through with this poem. I think it is good to share openly because so many folks who read the blog are suffering so much. They need, like all of us, to know they are not alone. It’s all part of this thing we call the human community. My faith is strong, my sense of humor is intact but my body is not good. Had another session at the dentist today so rear end hurts, jaws hurt and my neck is aching. Two more dental visits to go. The dentist told me today he should name one room the Sue Wood Memorial room. I said, gee, aren’t you cheerful and then he realized how that sounded and we all laughed. My surgical/burn site on my chest can still be very tight and uncomfortable, especially when I use my arms and when I try to sleep on the left side. Much needs to heal.

Reading your later entry about SB it does sound like the rheumy would be a good choice. They usually make a good place to start and get direction and or referrals. Let’s hope he gets some good…heck, not good, the best opinions in your whole state. He’s got a long life to live with that back. I know you’re very concerned and understand. Love you dear friend, Sue

  10. Hey all:
Sue Lovely poem. I don’t know what I would do without my walk with God. I am not sure how I could get thru each day without talking to Him first, and actually all thru the day. He is my best and dearest friend. And I know He is yours as well. I hope you are feeling better, and almost thru with all the nastys so you can get your own self back on track. Everytime I see a black Lincoln Navigator I think of you, then remember you don’t drive it anymore so now I have to get another picture of your car in my head 🙂
    Love ya
    Tonie

    • Tonie, indeed. Now you have to think of me as a bright, shiny red Ford Taurus. My navigator had darkened windows and always made me look like I was part of the movie Men In Black. Wow girl, have you been busy. I am so happy for you that you got to spend time with your son and the kids. Hope you’re holding up after all the visiting. How did it go at the doctor’s visit?
My little GD just called, the second night in a row, to try to talk us into taking a kitten. One of their neighbors had a stray give birth to three adorable kitties and they are looking for homes for them. Apparently they are drinking milk now and the pound won’t take them because they’re full to the brim with other kitties. There is no way we need a new animal at our house. I have enough going on in my life right now, in fact, too much. Beth put them on her FB site if anyone wants to see them. They are cute. They have a black, a grey stripe, and two golden orange ones. Very sweet. Wish all these folks would get their cats neutered. Their neighborhood is over run with cats.
Hope you’re okay. We all missed you much and were concerned. Love you much, Sue

      • HAHA !! I can just see how MUCH George would welcome that kitty !! 🙂 He would be like WHAT ???
Dr said the Xrays of the knee looked good. Put me back on Voltarn and off Mobic, said it wasn’t strong enough 🙂 Then wants me to do some therapy exercises at home and then if not better come back and he is going to investigate my lower back to see it it is the culprit. But was very supportive of the disability. HE was leaving on vacation, but , and doing something he NEVER does, came back into the room to tell his assis to make SURE I got everything I needed for my disability. Made me feel good. So now I got one more to go. The surgeon . I didn’t get to see the kids, just the adults !!! 😦
I slept thru the night last night. First time in I don’t know when. Woke up and was confused ! But feel a little more refreshed than usual. The Rheumy referred me for a sleep study ! Wants to make sure no sleep apnea !
        Take care, love
        Tonie

      • Sue, sounds like they need some TNR programming. That’s Trap Neuter Release for those unfamiliar. They trap the feral cats, neuter them, usually tip their ear so they are easily recognizable as a TNR kitty, and release them again. Best way to deal with the problem. Is there any such program in place around you? We have some in our state. I do hope the kittens can find good homes, and soon.

  11. Jennie, your osteo does sound knowledgeable and compassionate. That’s always a good combination. How thoughtful to help you relax with heat and a half hour of rest. Good start to a doctor/patient relationship. Sounds like he will have some new, fresh ideas about what to do for you and your cervical spine. Prayers for that direction. I hope your mouth is gradually getting better. Just remember it’s the mouth and heals slowly as do burns. I wish I had a magic wand to wave in your direction dear girl. Love you, Sue

    • HI SUE………….YES TO ALL THE ABOVE, BUT OH DEAR, I FEEL THE MOUTH PAIN IS GETTING WORSE NOT BETTER, ITS BEEN ELEVEN DAYS, THOUGHT THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN SOME MINOR IMPROVEMENT, WHAT WITH ALL THE FACIAL PAIN GOING ON TOO, I AM AT MY WITS END. TONIE IS RIGHT, I COULDN’T SEE GEORGE TOLERATING A KITTY EITHER, I HOPE THEY FIND A DECENT HOME.
HOW IS YOUR DENTAL TREATMENT PROGRESSING??

TONIE,,,,IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU TOO HAVE FOUND A GOOD DOCTOR, AREN’T WE LUCKY? AND I AGREE WITH YOU, I CAN’T START OR FINISH MY DAY WITHOUT A CHAT TO MY MAKER EITHER….LOADS OF LOVE TO YOU BOTH….JENNIE XX

      • Jennie, ask your doctor to give you some lidocaine mouthwash. It would help you so much. You poor dear. It sounds miserable and I can attest to how long it takes burns to heal. You literally have to grow new skin and it’s even harder in the mouth depending how many layers down you burnt it. Ouch!! I have two more dental visits planned and then, hopefully just the bi-annual checks. My jaws are always sore this way. Glad when it is over. Don’t forget to eat dear friend. I wish I had more encouraging news for you but time will take care of it but that mouthwash would help. Worth a try or a phone call, huh? Love, Sue

  12. Tonie, Sounds good. I’m glad the knee is going to hold you up as well as a sympathetic physician to support your efforts for disability. We’re all waiting for that to get resolved for you. What a relief when that day arrives, huh? Yes, I don’t think I need a kitten right now although I am also a cat person as well as a dog person but now, I can’t even handle the thought of one more responsibility in my life. There seems to be so much I always leave undone.
Now I have to ask who was watching the grands if you got to see your son and DIL but no grands? I am glad for the visit. I’m sure that sparked you up a bit. Hope your weather has settled down. We’re actually having a bit of a heatwave for us. In the 80’s for the next two days. The local grands started school and both like it so life is good. Do be good to you and the pups. Love, Sue

  13. Mornin all:
Sue, an aunt was with the kids, the mom has loads of family down there. THe weather here is wet and soggy. A big thunderstorm every evening this week. Lots of rain. It is hot during the day though, so kinda steamy I guess. 🙂
Gotta lot to get done today, starting with going to the wellness center to swim. Then I need to get things done around the house, I have to put together some apple pies (for small fried ones) to make for a youth revival next week. Put em in the freezer so they can be fried that day. Change the bed, wash and dry clothes, wash and dry DOGS !! And I better get crackin at it too !
THe chickies are enjoying all the rain. They get out to eat up all the bugs. They have really taken care of the stink bug problem here at Casa Dalton. I haven’t seen but one this year (live that is). School started here as well , so the bus wakes me up if I am fortunate enough to still be asleep at 7 ! Well I have a few days of rest coming up soon right ?? I have been busy with the crocheting. I have made some very cute hats with cool flowers on the sides. I will post a pic on FB, see if you all like. Please take care today all. God bless
    Love
    Tonie

    • Tonie, Okay, I have to ask. DO stink bug give the pups bad breath? Eternal question. I am sorry to hear you’re soggy. I know that’s not doing much for your garden. I hate sticky. Our humidity is always high but for some reason we don’t have sticky here. I think it must be the wind that’s always coming in over the ocean and then the large Columbia River. Always cool at night. Is that true for you as well? Hard to sleep when it’s so muggy, huh? We were warm yesterday and again today and George kept whining at me and I got impatient with him and kept telling him to jump up on the bed, he knows the route…stool, cedar chest to bed. Finally I realized he was getting cold and wanted his jacket on which was lying on top of his kennel right beside the bed. I put it on him and then he jumped up on the bed and went to sleep. Really? Sometimes I wonder at his patience with me.
Your apple pies sound wonderful. How about posting a few? Sounds like another busy day for you, as for me, get the kids after school, housework and stay in out of the sun. I might dust the furniture but am considering writing messages all over them in the dust instead. Sounds much more interesting. Sore mouth and neck…darn dentist. Love the guy so can’t disparage him. You be good to yourself, Love, Sue

  14. Hi all
Quick post had to come back for dr for DD.he. Said he has had shingles on the worst place and it has gone up his you know where and the other too.so he is sore still.the ouside ones are healing. But it has affected his bladder too and he is well you know how it is!
And I saw him too for my knee ,it gives way and is so sore .The X-ray said osteo with spikes
he has referred me to hosp.so if DD is up to it we are going back.only came over first thing
The shed is on one floor so easy for me I can’t get my knee up stairs
I’ll come back when sorted Chris

    • Dear Chris, I’m assuming you meant to type DH instead of DD and am so sorry to hear your husband is still having such a miserable time of it, the poor guy. And now your knee? Oh dear. I agree with Jennie, good thing you have the shed with only one floor. So sorry and hope it gets better with staying off of it. Sometimes knees do. By spikes do you mean calcium deposits? That sounds thorny and painful. Hang in there sweet girl and keep us informed as you can. Love to each of you, Sue

  15. WELL YOU COULDN’T MAKE IT UP…..WENT OVER ON MY ANKLE THIS MORNING, GETTING TO THE CAR…..SWOLLEN UP AND BADLY BRUISED…..APPLIED THE ARNICA CREAM AND AN ELASTIC BANDAGE (NOT TOO TIGHT) AND OUT COMES THE STICK AGAIN…..GOT SEEN RIGHT AWAY AT THE DENTIST, HE SAID IT WAS A BAD BURN AND WOULD TAKE A LONG TIME TO HEAL.
HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF LIDOCAINE SUE, BUT GAVE ME SOME PASTE TO APPLY, AND BLOW ME DOWN IF IT WASN’T THE ONE MY DOCTOR TOLD ME NOT TO USE COZ IT HAS ACID IN IT…..WHAT DO YOU DO…DENTIST OR DOCTOR???? A BIT OF A CONUNDRUM.
SO CHRIS IN THE SAME BOAT AS YOU……HOPE IT EASES FOR YOU OVER THE WEEKEND, BETTER FOR YOU AT THE SHED WITH NO STAIRS.
TONIE…SORRY ABOUT HAVING ALL THAT RAIN, HOPE IT HASN’T RUINED YOUR CROPS, GLAD THE CHUCKS ARE THRIVING ON THEIR BUGS, ENJOY YOUR FEW DAYS OF REST…XXX
    HAVE A NICE WEEKEND EVERYONE….GOD BLESS……JENNIE XX

    • Jennie, As far as the lidocaine I think we have a language problem because the dentist uses a form of it everyday in the novocaine injections to numb the mouth. They make a jel if you can find it. As far as the difference in the orders, did you tell the dentist? If not, why not try it. Just a bit to see if it helps. I am sorry to hear him affirm that it will take time but that is the nature of burns. I know especially from my recent radiation burns. I pray your ankle is not a serious sprain and will heal well if you can and will stay off of it. Do you think you need an X-ray? You poor thing. Life just keeps coming at you…well, many of us, doesn’t it? If you can, try to keep your diet high in protein to promote healing, okay? Much love, Sue

  16. Good morning peeps, (well afternoon for some )
I am slow getting going today, still in jammies and almost 11:30 ! 🙂 I have to get up and going after this. Got “Daniel Boone” on the tv, just love those old shows. When I was a kid, I was GLUED to the tv when it was on !
I have to go to the church and make the pies first off. Then I have to finish the quilt top for the baby (great grandson) so I can get it to them in time for the birth ! Procrastination strikes again ! I should have a T shirt with that work on it for everyday !
I did get the yard mowed yesterday, along with most of Judy’s. Felt bad using her mower and not mowing hers. The rain started right after I quit 🙂 I guess the grass grew an inch over night. I still need to weed eat, maybe this afternoon when it cools down. Supposed to be 90 again today. GOtta vacuum the bedroom and bathroom.
Chris, so sorry for your DH’s prob. Will be praying for his complete and rapid recovery. As for you ….glad you have the shed to go to. Isn’t it funny how the Lord sorts those things out for us in advance ?
The diclofenic is actually helping my back. It is stronger than Mobic I guess. But all the running around has my knee throbbing again.
Jennie, I pray you get well soon, it seems it is one thing after another with you !!
Lyn, prayers that SB will make the right decision with his back. Whne they get that age, they still think they are bullet proof.
Sue, dear friend, prayers for you as always that you will be feeling better soon
Janet, hoping you are getting much done with time to rest. Oh I can see all the memories you are having with each little thing you pack away. Think of you often dear.
All the rest of you, you are so important to me. Even if I don’t feel like conversing sometimes, just reading picks me up. Like a group hug when I need it. Well, gotta go
    Love you all
    Tonie

    • Tonie, Here’s my share of the group hug! Mowing two yards!! Oh my. Hope the new or going back to the former NSAID helps you. They each work differently for different folks and different joints. They usually take longer than a few days but maybe you have a quicker one this time. Blood levels usually have to be established but you probably were at a max with the Mobic so both kicked in, maybe?
Don’t you hate all the repetitious housework? Sometimes i think we each wonder, why bother it will just get dirty again. Kind of the same with your rain and grass bit. We don’t have many green lawns out here right now. Folks don’t usually bother to water; they just wait for the next rainstorm to do it and it usually occurs every few days. I don’t water my grass because it just has to be mowed. All the trees, plants and flower do get their share when needed. We were in the 80’s yesterday but that’s unusual here. I took George with me to pick up GS at his middle school and his little feet hit the sidewalk and he just balked and sat there and stared at me so I picked him up and took him to the car. I don’t think it was too hot for him but he did because he’s not used to it….the little prince. He has this tiny kennel he likes to get into when he wants a nap downstairs when I’m down there and he’s very aggressive toward Jakie when he’s in there and comes out snarling, so I shook him out of there the other day. He hung on with all four legs and wouldn’t come out until I did that. Then I locked it closed so he can’t get in it and now he’s angry with me or pouting about it and lays beside it looking pitiful so guess I’ll get rid of it and just use it in the car. Poor old Jake. I wasn’t about to let that little punk get away with that nonsense. It is funny, though. Jake’s life is pretty much sleeping and eating as he’s over 13 now.
Hope today goes well for you. Take some breaks, okay? Love, Sue

      • HAHAH !! Sue I had to laugh this am reading about Georgie’s kennel. He is QUITE the little spoiled prince huh ? That is just so funny, as well as the fact he wouldn’t walk 🙂 Poor Jakie, being attacked by the ball of fluff !
No one waters around here either. Our water bills are too high ! They just went up $7 a month. That is a ridiculous amount to go up. And even if you disconnect, they will still bill you for the monthly bill. Say if you were to use your well. Unreal.
Everything is real green here now, with all the rain. The trees are beginning to loose their luster starting to get fall-ish ,
I got my pies done and in the freezer for Fri. And my back told me about it ! Standing all that while on a concrete floor took it’s toll. Couldn’t walk last night. But slept very well. You may be right about the meds. Probably had the high dose of Mobic already. Plus the diclofenic. I must go grocery shopping today. I really hate to do it on a Sunday, but must be done and today is the only day. Too much else Mon and Tues. So… off to the races as it were. Gotta get ready for church.
Have a good day (oh and I was on a riding mower, for the lawns)
        Love
        Tonie

  17. Hi
Well I think I’ll take my diclofenac for my knee as Tonie ….ive laid off for a bit because it gives me IBS …
But I’ll take it for a few days .it mite help….I’ve been rubbing on the gel but don’t think it’s helping .i know the tablets do. But I haven’t got any at the shed, and I usually get them on script, but I’ll buy some tomorrow
Sue your dogs antics made me laugh
Days are nice and warm, and sunny ,but colder at nite now.we are really into autumn..ok fall….
DH dunno really bit early to say with the antibiotics
GS comming up tomorrow ,so looking forward to that ,he will stay the nite …he has sunday and Monday off
Tonie you asked about my dad
I see him when I go back ..he seems to be keeping at the same level..the lady in next door flat. Really looks after him..I’m lucky there…she does all his food and washing and ironing.and changes bed etc.she
Is a marvel. He also has a cleaner once a week for 2 hours and carer every day. But next door if she think it’s Not been done right she does it again!
I just see all us ok and do his apps for his diary and do his mail and filing.altho last time I had to get him to see dr as his eye was bad…but I ring him every nite.also he has called us and I’ve thought I’m gonna go back.done it twice to see him…it only takes 50 mins, especially Late at nite
He still goes out on his buggy and gets to have coffee with the girls…as he calls them ..at 5 pm in the comm. lounge
Well just had showers and got washing on
    Jen
Hope the mouth is just a bit better…

I going back tues nite…got a few appts and DH has to take photos for someone
Gonna stay for up to ten days.got the house and garden to do it’ll be a slow job with my knees and back
    All best to all
    Chris

    • Chris:
So glad you have got it all sorted out with your Dad. You had a terrible time there for a while. Thank God for all the help. huh ? His neighbor sounds like a real Godsend. It is a relief I know that things are being done now, Although keeping up with all his paperwork is nothing to sneeze at either. So glad he is up and about again. Makes my heart glad. I have a special soft spot for elderly people. And for little kids and animals. My top three, don’t mess with em around me !! Take your time with the house and rest some. I do understand . Even with my tiny home, it takes a lot out of you to keep it up huh ? I made me some chicken stew last night, was so good. I have enough left over, I will put it in small containers in the freezer for when I am one armed again ! Tke care luv,
      Tonie

  18. Hya Tonie
I want a smaller place than we have rite now..it is small ,but I want smaller..be so much better.gonna see In The new year just hate the selling bit
Good idea with the stew,I’m going to have to get back to doing it ,been all off key with all going on and need to get back to normal….huh?! Well that’s what I’d like to put stuff by for winter
Oh..the diclofenac makes me tired as well..but at least I get to sleep!
Weather good here ,GS with his mates today so he is comming up tomorrow now.
    Jen
Hope the weather is good with you too…mouth??

    Chris

    • Chris dear, Good to hear all the news and get caught up on what’s happening with each of you. Glad your Dad has such a caring neighbor lady. She’s a marvel and must be a special person. Sounds like his health is also holding and that’s good.
I hope the NSAID helps your knee and other pain. Life just keeps pushing us on doesn’t it? I guess that’s the meaning of it all when we just keep plugging along. Enjoy your visit with your GS tomorrow. I know, selling out and moving is a pain but it’s good to look ahead. I’ve been wanting to get rid of so much stuff but just don’t have the energy and Jim doesn’t have the time so there it all sits. Smaller places are so good because we always fill up whatever space we have, don’t we…we humans. Take care of yourself dear girl and find some pleasure in all the views and beauty at the coast. Much love, Sue

    • Jennie, Prayers and hugs and hopes for a brighter day after healing. Isn’t that what each of us pray for? Love you, Sue

      • So sorry Jennie. I will be lifting you in special prayers for the mouth to heal sooner than anyone expects.I pray that God takes His healing hands and places them on the roof of your mouth and that the burned skin will start to become new and healed skin. I pray that same prayer for your breast Sue. I thank Him, it is done in Jesus name. Amen! Love you both, Donna.

  19. Hi All, just a quick note that I will now be posting the blog every other week, instead of weekly. Too many health issues and family with the grands, etc. It will still hopefully be good. Hope you each understand. Love, Sue

  20. Tonie dear, know you’re having a full day with church, etc. Sounds like you have the fall cooking bug. I get that, too and it’s usually to make apple pie and beef stew. Haven’t made either thus far. Jim doesn’t like beef stew due to all the vegies..oh my. I usually make it for me and cook him noodles and beef. He’s over at a classic car show today with our youngest grandson. Hope they’re having fun. I couldn’t go due to a bout of IBS. Curses, or toilets or something like that. Isn’t like just a big pain sometimes? Hope your chicks are producing, your lawn has stopped growing, your pups are flealess and your knee is better. Much love, Sue

  21. Sue
The weeks go by so quickly now and with all you’ve got on and the year you have had.you must take time to enjoy more ,more of everything..your family , your home ,your lovely country by the river there.you can’t do all that and write such beautiful words every week…..well not and build yourself up as we want you to
So I want that and all the blog will to…so you look after yourself and be told…..take it easy! Ok??
Well I’m of to bed ,sleep? Huh ! I wish
Looking forward to tomorrow … Now ain’t that a good thing?
    Love Chris

    • Yes, sweet Chris, that’s a good thing to look forward to tomorrow. Grandson? THey do fill us with love. Thanks for your kind words. Love you much, Sue

      • Just want to thank everyone for your prayers for my nephew. He is doing good. Not sure when his ankle surgery will be so if you don’t mind, just keep him in your prayers.
As for my van, the cable did not get here until today. I did however get to go to the fair with my friend. It was difficult as I couldn’t take my scooter. I used my wheeled and seated walker. It wasn’t too bad with walking. Great exercise for me. The hardest part was because I have osteoporosis, I am leaned over and that causes neck and shoulder pain. I just took it easy and stayed in the buildings with the animals and watching the horses being Judged and the young kids riding. Tonie I thought of you. You would have enjoyed it I am sure. At least it was air conditioned in the buildings. Food was great but I don’t ride any rides. I pray that the man who is going to fix my van can get to it this week. I have a very important weekend coming and if I don’t get to go I am going to be so disappointed. It is an opportunity for me to see a lot of family and cousins I grew up with who I haven’t seen in years. It is out of town so no one can take me to this. I just have to trust God and if it doesn’t happen then I guess I wasn’t suppose to go. I love all of you and I am happy to say other than my neck I am not in too much pain right now. My blood work for my tumor marker is stable. Which is good. It means that most likely there are no tumors in my body as far as they know. It had been elevated but has come down. Thank you Lord! Sweet dreams everyone. Talk to you later. Donna

  22. HELLO….ANKLE A BIT BETTER, SLIGHT MOUTH IMPROVEMENT, FOUND OUT WHERE I CAN GET LIDOCAINE SUE, SO WILL HAVE A BASH AT ORDERING IT……NERVE PAIN GOING ON IN THE EXTRACTED TOOTH AREA, AFTER ALL THIS TIME TOO, DO YOU THINK IT WILL HELP WITH THAT SUE….THE LIDOCAINE I MEAN?? THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR CONCERN AND PRAYERS….YOU ALWAYS HELP………………TREATMENT TOMORROW, SO WILL WRITE MORE THEN……THINKING OF YOU ALL AND LOVE YOU ALL TO BITS…….JENNIE XXXXX PS…SUE, WHATEVER IS GOOD FOR YOU RE:- THE BLOG, IS GOOD FOR US X

    • Jennie, easy on the lidocaine. The IV is used for hearts. I would just dab it on the burn for some periods of relief. There are several over the counter tubes for mouth pain like the tooth socket. Ask your pharmacist, okay?I am thankful you have some improvement after all you’ve been through. Hoping your visit tomorrow will bring some relief for your neck. Thinking of you as ever, Love, Sue

      • SUE…..I HAVEN’T GOT IT YET, THERE IS AN IMPROVEMENT ANYWAY, SO MAY JUST PUT IT AWAY FOR FUTURE USE, SHOULD I NEED IT. JUST GOT BACK FROM OSTEOPATH, GOOD SESSION, BUT VERY TIRED NOW SO GOING TO LAY DOWN ………….LOVE YOU…..JEN X

  23. Morning peeps !
Well looks like today is a first of a lot of jean wearing days. Cooler out with more RAIN on the horizon. I am in a direct flight line of Geese, so I get to wake up to the honking sounds as they cross overhead. Too little sleep last night and too much day ahead of me I am afraid. Gotta jumpe in the shower and get ready for work. Sue, do what is best for you, you know we will be here regardless.
Jennie, glad you are feeling better. Donna, so happy your nephew is doing better and that you got to go to the fair !! It is the little things that count huh ?
Coffee is indeed the elixir of the Gods huh ? Helps me get going in the am. WOn’t be long, I will have to bundle up to go feed the chicks. Looks like one of the nuggets is laying now. They are so sweet. Chickie Sue , Carol and Sadie are still the head honchos and poor little Henny Penny is the old girl on the outs with Rufus 2. She is still laying though. She lays the largest eggs so I know it is her. They have been behaving and going out just in my yard, not going roaming around the neighborhood. Course there are a lot of bugs out still, so with the cold, huh ?
Okay, time i sslipping away from me. Must dash on. Love to you all
Janet, thinking of you this am. Won’t be long for the big move right ?
    Tonie

    • Tonie, glad the older chicks are still laying. Gotta count on those old friends. Poor Henny Penny to be in trouble with the man. Glad you’re getting the free chicken feed in the wigglies. I am sorry you didn’t sleep well but the geese do sound lovely. We have them land in a field across the street at times and all that honking, oh my. I love it. Hope you hang in there today with Ms. Alice. How is she? You haven’t mentioned her lately, your little charge.
To me a good night of sleep would be the elixir of the gods. Wonder what that would feel like?
Thanks again for the update on the chicks. Love to hear your chicken stories. Be good to yourself today dear girl. Love, Sue

  24. Donna, I’m so pleased to hear your nephew is recovering. Also, pleased you got to go to the fair. I haven’t been to a fair in years. I grew up just a few blocks from the largest fair in the states, the LA County fair. So many good memories and so much walking in days long gone. It sounds like you had a wonderful time and for that we’re all grateful you got to do it. We take our pleasures where and when we can get them when we live with disabilities, right? Glad the blood work looks good. That’s a blessing. As for the vehicle…what will be will be. You’ll work it out, I know. Love, Sue

  25. TONIE…I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT COFFEE……..I MUST HAVE MY MORNING CAPPUCCINO OR I DON’T FUNCTION,.

DONNA….SO PLEASED FOR YOU THAT YOUR NEPHEW IS ON THE MEND.

LOVE TO EVERYONE FOR NOW…..JENNIE XXX

    • Jennie, Glad to hear you’re healing, albeit slowly. Those darned burns are like that. Have to lay down a new layer of skin. Also pleased you had a good treatment. Only natural it should fatigue you. It’s worth if it helps. Rest well, Sue

      • HI SUE….YES THE TREATMENT IS GOING OK, BUT I AM WELL AWARE ITS GOING TO BE A LONG HAUL, AND I KNOW NOT A GREAT DEAL CAN BE DONE, BUT I AM GRATEFUL FOR ANYTHING. I SHOULD HAVE THE XYLOCAINE BY SATURDAY, AND HOPEFULLY I WILL BE ABLE TO GET SHORT PERIODS OF RELIEF……WE ARE HAVING FABULOUS WEATHER AT THE MOMENT, A REAL INDIAN SUMMER, I OPE IT LASTS LONG ENOUGH FOR US TO GET TO THE COAST ONE LAST TIME, BUT NOT TILL MY ANKLE/FOOT HEALS, ITS STILL A WICKED COLOR.
YOU MUST BE ALMOST DONE WITH YOUR DENTAL TREATMENT NOW I GUESS, I HOPE YOU ARE PLEASED WITH IT ALL, AND THAT YOU FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE NOW………LOVE TO YOU MY FRIEND….JEN X

  26. Hey all:
Sue, Ms Alice is doing fine, eating well and still holding onto the weight I have put on her 🙂 . She is going to be a great grandmother and so is excited.
Well, ya’all need to remember to pray for me tonight and in the am. I have to be at the hospital at 7 am so it will be a VERY early morning. Up, take another quick shower with the dial soap and then out the door (well brush my teeth !). Supposed to be in at 8:30. FIrst in and out.
GOt all done that I wanted to today. Be glad to get this over and start on the road to healing. Love to you all. I will try to peck out a few words soon as I can feel up to it okay ??
    Love you all
    Tonie

    • Tonie, dear friend you can bet we each will be thinking and praying for you in the AM and tonight as well, so you will get good night’s sleep. Since you’ve had the shoulder surgery previously on the left, you’re and old hand..no pun intended. Hang in there sweet lady and know we’re each here for you. Love you much, Sue

    • TONIE….WROTE TO YOU, BUT IN CASE YOU DIDN’T READ IT, KNOW THAT I HOLD YOU IN MY THOUGHT AND PRAYERS ME DARLIN’!! YOU WILL BE OK, YOU GOT TO BE WITH ALL THE PRAYER WE ARE EACH SAYING FOR YOU……LOVE YOU HEAPS…..JENNIE POO XX

  27. Tonie
Be thinking of you .you will be good.and the diclofenac will be of help too that you are taking .
Take it easy now and NO work for a bit!
You come back when you can and rest
    Chris

  28. Well my dads in hosp again.he has been aspirating and has an infection in the lungs poss sepsis again.he is not responsive
Very worried.on Iv antibiotics .2 of them.
Come home and he was in hosp .
They are now just going to give him purée food and thickened liquid.he looks so frail and shaking
DH shingles is bad down his sciatic nerve ,painfull
Yep it seems tHe good days go quick!
    Chris

    • CHRIS…OH HECK, I AM SORRY YOUR DAD IS IN TROUBLE AGAIN, I HOPE THEY CAN PULL HIM ROUND AND MAKE HIM COMFORTABLE……ALSO DH, BEEN RUNNING A LONG TIME WITH THIS NOW, THOUGHT HE WOULD BE FEELING A LOT BETTER BY NOW…….THINKING OF YOU ALL…..LOVE JEN XX

    • Chris dear, so sorry to hear your Dad has aspiration pneumonia, and wish my daughter who is a swallowing expert (speech therapist) was there to help him. Be sure they don’t give him water but instead thickened liquids. Even nurses don’t know and often give it by mistake. Sounds like he’s responding to the antibiotics and that’s so positive. This getting old certainly isn’t for the weak and that’s exactly who gets hit. Prayers for him and you.
As far as DH and those blasted shingles…terribly to hear he is going to be one with the after effects. Sometimes it lingers well past the initial three week breakout and of all folks to suffer…such a nice man. Sounds like the sciatic pain may be from having them in the groin area so badly. I pray your knees are calming and you have the time to get a bit of rest for yourself while running back and forth to to the hospital for your Dad. Sometimes love can call for us to perform above and beyond so please be good to you. Much love, Sue

    • Tonie, relieved surgery went well. Now rest and as Lyn also advised, managed that pain as best you can. No mowing the lawn and let’s hope the wild kingdom behaves at your place. Sorry to be so late in getting on today. Second trip to the dentist yesterday. Went on Monday and repeat yesterday. Three more fillings, far back…thought my jaw would crack. Miserable night with the heating pad on it all night. Bruised jaw from Monday. BUT that is the end of it. Ten visits now over. WHat a nightmare. Already have a followup scheduled for Jan. early to clean so can keep this awful mess in as good shape as possible. Don’t know or have an explanation for how my mouth got this bad. Brush faithfully, have water pik, etc and only waited 14 months between visits…was a bit busy with other stuff. Think it’s related to the awful osteoporosis. Look at me and forgive me for talking about myself when you’re obviously in pain right now. Love you much and have been praying for you and thinking about you. Hugs but very gently, Sue. P.S. Do be a good girl and ask for help if needed, okay?

  29. JUST TO SAY THAT WE, HERE IN THE UK AND FRANCE, HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN WHAT DAY IT IS, AND WHAT IT MEANS TO OUR COUSINS ACROSS THE POND……………..THINKING AND PRAYING FOR THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES ON THE ANNIVERSARY DAY, A POIGNANT DAY FOR THOSE WHO WERE LEFT TO PICK UP THE PIECES……WE NEVER FORGET ABOUT YOU………………………………….JENNIE.

    • Thank you so much, Jennie. It means so much for you and your countrymen/women to think of us on this day. In many ways it feels like yesterday. I live not that far from all 3 locations and remember well the shock of that day and its aftermath.

    • Jennie, I am always so impressed by your kind friendship to our country. The D day celebrations and now this tribute. It is a sad day for our country to commemorate and there is sort of a sadness over the land.
Hope your mouth is much better as well as your back. It seems that so many of us have so much happening right now but I did finish with the dentist after a 2 hour visit yesterday and hope nothing else cracks or falls out. My neck, back and jaws have had more than enough for now. Loved the last lovely pics of your flowers along your patio…so colorful. Much love dear girl, Sue

    • Thank you Jennie. I have a dear Canadian friend who always remembers too- because we were about to drive to the airport in Calgary when the planes hit the Towers. I ended up spending an extra five days in Canada waiting for a flight home; she and her husband were so kind to me…
Sorry to hear about all the trouble with your burnt mouth. Glad to hear you found a good osteo. Love from across the pond, Annie

  30. Hi all

  32. Hi everyone- seems forever since I’ve been on here. Finally recovering from the massive garage sale effort last weekend. My friend Jessica raised over $5,000 for the Touch a Life Foundation! It was a long week of preparation and a really hot weekend- close to 100 degrees both days, but such a smashing success.
PT continues, and is progressing nicely. Much less back/ S-I joint pain and much better mobility and urinary function so I’m very pleased. Rarely having to use catheters at all now (after five years of it off and on- what a relief!)
More changes at work- we replaced one of the teachers that was let go, and shes awesme; still interviewing for the other position. Then big bombshell, my boss resigned! She is moving to Bellevue WA to be closer to her daughter, so they’re now interviewing for the manager position as well. I do wish her well, though I can’t say I’m sorry to see her go. She was just really not a great fit for our program, (we lost several clients and our enrollment is way down); so I’m praying we find just the right person to build our program back up- I know the need is out there. I’m getting two new toddler patients with tube feelings so I’ll be keeping busy again- but that’s good, now that we have the staffing for It. Makes for really long days when you don’t have enough to do. Hope everyone is doing as well as possible. Got caught up on comments now do hopefully will stay a little more current with everyone. Love to all, Princess Crabby Pants
PS Please pray for my shoulder. My little KK took another flying leap and it was a rather awkward catch- ratched my shoulder quite a bit keeping her from hitting the floor. Really must convince her that flying us not an option! Lol.

    • Annie, so good to hear from you and the news about your boss sounds best for her and for all of you. So glad you’re feeling and doing better. PT can be fabulous, can’t it? Love you girl, Sue

  33. Lyn dear, Thanks for your kind comments. Two long sessions at the dentist were a fitting end to this ordeal. Jaw still bruised and a bad lip but those way in the back cavities are rough. So glad it’s ended. Had youngest GS all day today with a sore throat. Long day. Heard from a cousin today whose sister just lost her husband to a giant aneurysm, very suddenly. I’m so sad. THey were such a lovely couple married forever and had just been out here summer before last. Had another young cousin die three weeks ago, cause still unknown. Life is truly so fleeting.Today is really all we have so we’d better enjoy and cherish. Hope all is well dear girl. Love you, Sue

  34. Hi folks
Tonie hope all ok with you and the pain is under control

Sue. So so sorry for your close losses. Yep today is all we have wether we are ill or well this is it. I think this is why we had our shed,we keep the money and save all the time and what if what happens and suddenly the days have gone and done nothing. How far do you think into the future and try and secure it….it changes and you can’t ……this don’t sound a lot of sense but you know what I mean

My dad well…he’s the best, best I have seen him. He moves his face to smile not frozen he speaks loud and normal is swallowing better.he feels well. They say the infection is also from the lung not healing before ( he mite always have this) and not swallowing right
But everyone is so pleased with him,he’s been on IV antibiotics and your prayers I know and such a turnaround
He could come out Monday,or Tuesday ….so we came away for the night and day to the shed.weather is lovely
dD has gone to a wedding near Lake Como in Italy and I’m at the shed!
But go back tomorrow and organise his flat for going home…well as best I can as it smells of menthol so bad
The speech therapist came round and I thought of your daughter Sue. They are going to do a swallow scan video . He had the thickener I asked for and he won’t use it….he says it alters the taste.!! He can be awkward ! The gargley sound when he talks is becos he swallow incompletely they will work on this, don’t know what they can do
Jen. Hope things are still improving
Lyn. How’s your sons back .did he get to see the dr. And how’s the car going. I know you’ve been busy lately and things playing up,but not heard about your car
All everybody else ,have a good weekend I’m determined to
    Chris

    • Hi, Chris, no SB hasn’t seen doc yet. His work schedule is changing and he wants to see how it settles in before trying to make an appointment. His back, his call. He’s 20 years old now and needs to be responsible for himself. Of course I’ll support him any way I can. 🙂 The car is fine. I’m still cruising around with top down most days – pup Sadie sure likes that. I imagine I won’t have too much longer ’til I need to have top up most, then every day.

It’s rainy here today and I feel it. Well, that combined with trying to keep a pup exercised, introducing some yoga, and long rehearsal this morning. The rest of today will be spent resting, I think. Happy weekend, all!

      • Lyn dear, good to get an update on SB. Next time his back acts up fiercely perhaps he’ll be motivated to get to a dr. I’m jealous as ever over your convertible. I have to settle for a moon roof. Wonder when they started calling them that instead of sun roofs? You’re always such a model of efficiency for all of us with your exercising, running and now yoga? How’s dear Sadie? Such a doll. Love, Sue

      • Haha, well, no running, Sue, but I do try to walk, and with Sadie it’s a must. Except for today. Just couldn’t do it. She’ll have to get used to that sometimes. The summer is my best time and it is now over. 🙂 The yoga is just very short 5 – 10 minute sessions and we’ll see how it goes. You’ve gotta do what you can do! Move it or lose it, I say! 😉

    • Chris, such good news about your Dad. Sounds like they’ve got the infection cleared up this time…for now. With a permanent swallowing problem it’s a concern. Maybe you can talk him into drinking something that covers whatever taste he thinks is in the thickener. Stress to him dear girl how vital it is for him not to aspirate fluid into his lungs again. Hard headed…I know.
As for me, I’d pick the shed at the sea over a trip, with all that traveling, to Italy anytime. Would it help at all with the menthol filled Dad’s place if you bought a cheap mask at the pharmacy? Just a thought or put a bit of vaseline just inside the nose, not much, but enough to cover those sensors we all have for smelling? You’re always doing for others and I’m in 100% agreement with you about the brevity of life and the importance of our knowing it at this time in our lives. Much love, Sue

  35. Yea sue I’ll have a go with my dad and suitable liquid to drink…I think it’s getting used to it as well
The mask would certainly cover my nose but it hits my eyes too.ive tried wrapping a scarf round all my face, but then I can’t see and it still gets to my eyes.even if I put drops in before
DH will have to go in and sort out while I sit outside and instruct!
The dr said they would not purée his food as he at this stage only has this pleasure . But he was the one who told me in front of dad they wouldn’t resus him!…now look At him he’s better than he was.and walking about when I rang hosp today! He goes to town on buggy and to the cathedral on sunday. He enjoys all that
So,I will certainly tell him he has too have this thickener .just finding out the best liquid to put it in..I think it may be the feel,of it
Looking at his notes end of bed…he has stage 3 kidney failure….would that be his age…..that would explain the swollen ankles…but they’ve gone down and dad says the antibiotics have done it…I don’t know at all……..Maybe the sepsis he had a few mths ago bought on this kidney thing
Any how hope your dental aches have subsided a bit and you can enjoy the w.end
Just had showers and put washing on ready to go back tomorrow late afternoon
Yep I prefer the shed nowt to do and prepare to come to
Well gonna read my book now and get caught up with a few of them
    Chris
