Remember as a youngster
You could hardly wait,
For buds to sprout upon your chest;
Each birthday, update? Update?
For both guys and gals,
The other quest was hair
Any color would do
Just somewhere, anywhere.
Eventually there came a sprout
When your chest burst forth
And a “woman” you were,
At least “up North.”
The trip was planned
The training bra search on.
Who knew they needed training,
Especially with lace or nylon?
You couldn’t take poor Dad along
Oh my gosh, the thought;
But even with Mom
The modesty battle was fought.
You finally came home
Two new bras in hand
And grabbed the phone,
To chat about Lingerie Land.
They came in all sizes
Training bras to double D’s,
‘tweens to Dolly Parton
‘twas all anatomy.
Your Mama and your Grandma
Passed mammary genes to you,
When they began to sprout
That was your debut.
Little did you suspect
How pleasurable they’d be?
Nor how cozy and convenient
After birthing progeny.
Then there came the moment
Your boobs, they did rebel.
Strange cells began to grow
And life spun into hell.
Shaken to the core
All began to change
Medical folks came at you,
All life seemed rearranged.
You’d ask, “Will I still be the same,
If my boobs are cut from me?
The bottom line is clear,
I’ll be alive and cancer free.”
Just look at it this way
New boobs will be so perky;
When all around you
Others dangle like beef jerky.
I love my breasts, but not enough
To grab a pole and strip,
Neither would I keep them
To go down with the Ship.
We women are so much more
Than our mammary glands.
Our hearts, our souls and dreams,
Now, those are life’s brass bands.
‘From the Bedside’ by Sue (typed by Beth) Lots of nausea, not going home today as planned. I’m having trouble urinating and feel like crap, but am so relieved the lymph nodes are clear! I am being my own advocate and offending some of the hospital staff! But in all have been very impressed with my care here. Most of the staff has been wonderful. Thank you to you all for all the encouraging and thoughtful messages.
Sue:
So good to hear your voice !! Do take care and prayers for you
Love Tonie
Dear Sue sweetheart, so happy it all went down well. The rest are bumps in the road.
Thank you Beth for being there to type for Sue so now we all know how things are going.
Will really sleep well tonight. I see my old Sue in your words. I’m so very happy for you!!!!
Stay strong. Love you big. Power Angels and prayers always on their way to give you peace, comfort and strength to get through all of this.

Thankyou beth
Good to hear the ol sue!
You raise hell if you want to get what you have to!
All the rest will sort itself out from the anesthetic

I WANT TO JOIN THE OTHERS BETH AND THANK YOU FOR PASSING ON NEWS ABOUT YOUR MOM…..I THINK WE ALL BREATHED A SIGH OF RELIEF…..I BET SHE IS BEING NAUGHTY, NURSES ARE NEVER GOOD PATIENTS, A GOOD SIGN THOUGH, MEANS SHE IS ON THE ROAD TO RECOVERY….SHE IS AMAZING…LOVE YOU SUE…..JENNIE XX
I am so happy we have had good news from our Sue. Beth is such a dear daughter to her, and I am so happy that she is able to sit with her mom and give her support. Gives Jim a break. I bet little George is wondering where his mummy is !!
We have a had a few days of beautiful weather. I even slept with the windows open last night (it was very warm in my metal home !) It was a little nippy this am, but I was snuggled down good in my covers. Had to turn on the heat for the chickies they were huddled together cold. They are so cute ! Won’t be long I will put them out with the girls. Henny Penny has perked up since Rufus’ passing. SHe is the leader of the pack and has even started laying eggs ! Maybe she felt left out because the other hens had taken her place ? WHo knows ? I had the door open and hadn’t put up the screen on Tuesday and was resting after working. Looked up and Chickie Sue was IN the house ! I had to chase her down the hall and let her out the back door ! I sure did name her right, she is so curious !
Anyhow, I overworked myself. Transplanted a bunch of black raspberry vines from Judy;s flower bed. THis and that, but all the digging really wore me out. Ms Alice is back and I must leave in a bit to go to Greensboro and pick her and Fran up. I am glad they are back, I have missed them. Fran is more than ready for me to be with her mom. Wouldn’t surprise me if she wants me there tomorrow 🙂
Chris how is your Dad getting on ??
So glad we are all still up and about, regardless of how we feel deep down. Take care all. Remember to get your Tshirts ! Jenny and Chris, if ya’all want a shirt, I will look into how much it costs to ship it to you. You can buy it online and have it sent to me and then I will send it to you. But let me see what the postage would be okay ??
Love to all
Tonie

Beth, thank you for keeping us informed. Sue, even with the nausea, etc., I’m proud of how you’re doing. I’m keeping you in my prayers. My computer is acting up so I haven’t been able to get on FB to find updates. But, you know me, I’m working on it. Gosh, the older versions of Windows was so much easier for me to work on, or, I’ve just got older as the newer versions came out and can’t keep up!
I’ll never forget, and mind you my minister is a character and a half, and his wife even more so. She had a mastectomy a few years back and decided to have reconstruction surgery. He told a group of old ladies, and I’m talking 90’s for most of ’em, that she asked the doctor, would the new one sag as she got older or would she have one perky one and one droopy one! Every one was laughing so hard at his telling this, I have no idea what the doctor told her! Must have satisfied her, for she had the surgery!
I’m sending you tons of love and gentle, from a distance, hugs.
Linda
